Drugstore Spring

After writing about my luxe spring collection pieces I felt it would be fair to show some of my drugstore goodies for spring as well. Here’s a little bit of everything: eyes, cheeks and lips. I definitely favor pinks and peaches.

Eyes

Sleek i-Devine palette 658 in Oh So Special
The palette is a perfect balance between mattes – shimmers and lights and darks. You can create countless looks with this in your handbag from daytime peachy-pink and mellow coffee brown to smoked out evening looks in purple, dark grey and bronze. The shades are pigmented with only little fall-out for a very good price. I ordered the palette from Hungary so they do international shipping as well. Colors: (Upper row from left to right) Bow, Organza, Ribbon, Gift Basket, Glitz, Celebrate and (second row from left to right) Pamper, Gateau, The Mail, Boxed, Wrapped Up, Noir. I especially love the peach and pink shades in Organza, Ribbon and Pamper and my favorite ever is Wrapped up, the perfect grey-purple sitting next to the darkest black, Noir I’ve ever used.

L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow 892 in Amber Rush
This is a real beauty. It’s a shimmery, rose gold, pressed, lose pigment with a cute plug to keep it in the container. When applied I don’t have a bad fall out either, and that is a miracle by itself because I’m horrible with loose make-up. I’m just that clumsy…

Cheeks

Milani Illuminating Face Powder 01 in Amber Nectar
This is a real beauty and looks very spring-y in the pan: peach, gold, brown and light toned roses embossed into the powder. They call it an illuminating bronzer – blusher. I hoped to find a nice peachy tone to it but it is more a bronzer on my skin-tone than a blusher. Compared to the Clarins face powder this is only one color. You cannot take some from here or there to make it act more like a blusher. When I put it on my first thought was: “Oh, shucks! Shock and horror, it is golden!!!” and it does have a strongish gold sheen to it in the beginning but it I looked in the mirror an hour later and it seemed to work somehow. Since then I’ve been using it everyday and to this day I cannot name what it does after application. It just gave a nice amount of illumination and color blending into my skin. In the end I’m keeping it but perhaps I will reserve it more for the end of spring when the sun already caught me some…

And look at this beauty one more time… the raised surface is a really nice touch on an already visually tempting product…

Wet’n Wild Coloricon Blusher 833E in Mellow Wine
It’s my perfect everyday shade for my cheeks, a nice muted pink with the slightest shimmer running through it. It is subtle, long-lasting for such a cheap formula and goes with any and every make-up look you can dream up.

Lips

L’Oréal Colour Riche 176 in Sunset Angora
I like this semi-opaque lipstick. It’s the most beautiful color every, I would call it a baby rose-pink, but I’m shitty at color naming. It’s really buttery and moisturizing, not a long-stayer and doesn’t leave a stain the lips either. It’s a pity but reapplying is no bother with this soft, comfortable formula.

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter 027 in Juicy Papaya
Revlon lip butters are cult pieces and they are for a reason. It’s barely leaving an easy sheen of color but it works! Love it, love it, love it! Especially for this price it’s a winner on no-make-up days or when you just don’t care for anything strong on the lips. (I do get those days a few times a month despite my general bold lip fetish.)

Maybelline The Elixir ColorSensational 080 in Captivating Carnation
Essie Button was my enabler in this new love. I though I’m not a lip gloss girl but perhaps it’s time to revise this declaration a little bit. I enjoy this product because it dispenses an insane amount of  color compared to other glosses. It also clings to the lips so I cannot lick it off in the first 10 minutes of its wear (that actually happened before) but it is not overly sticky either. I think I need to get more of this formula.

Revlon Matte Super Lustrous Matte Lipstick 013 in Smoked Peach
The only matte on today’s post. Matte is my favorite type of lipstick because it is long-lasting and opaque but they can be really drying. This is no Chanel or NARS matte but compared to some others it is way better. I do advice to wear it with a generous layer of lip balm to prep the lips. Mattes are not easy to find on Revlon counters I find but it is not impossible with a little hunt.
