I love Sephora and their skincare and cosmetic lines and I know how hard it is to decide what to spend your money on when you step in that huge place. My first time was 3 HOURS long!!! Also buying in the store is a lot of times not an option for a poor student like me (I use the website a lot). Buying on the internet is quick and easy but it is kinda hard to find the best when you are deprived of the real experience of the senses (touch, smell, sight mostly). So I read and research before buying and still have misses and overlooked products while I’m on the mission of looking for the best. In this context even if it seems over-crowded in the blogging world, writing reviews is something important. You cannot have enough information (especially if you don’t have copious amounts of money) so I will do my best to give a good, solid opinion and tips for usage whenever I decide to mention and photograph a product.
Josie Maran 100% Pure Argan Oil
The weather even though it is already March, is pretty miserable and snowy in this corner of America, not even close to the spring I’m used to in Europe. Therefore I had to figure out new ways of keeping my skin happy. This is how I discovered oils and masks. I armed myself with Josie Maran’s Argan Oil and my poor face is dry patch free for the most part! It took me a few months to figure out what it really needed and then how to use it for a greater benefit but I can finally say I am happy with the results. I apply every evening a few drops all over my face as part of my evening routine before my moisturizer and on weekends spent indoors (definitely not in polite company) even in the morning. It is light and absorbs quickly however it is not a good idea to use under makeup so consider your plans first. You really don’t need too much so it will last long, I’ve been abusing it every day for more than two months now and my travel size bottle is still more than half-way full. I bet a full size would last close to half a year, all through the cold weather. This will be a definite repurchase for next winter.
Origins GinZing Energy-boosting moisturizer
This offering from Origins is one of the most light-weight moisturizers I have ever tried. It’s perfect for spring and summer. For winter it is not hydrating enough or at least you have to combine it with a heavy-duty night cream or oil however it works like a charm during summer for my oily combination skin. I’ve tried it before autumn set in around August during the end of summer heat waves. I used it under foundation and noted how quickly my skin absorbed it. It also has brightening properties that I didn’t realize in the summer when my goals were mostly to stay shine free and stay very light on cosmetics. So it was a pleasant surprise when I noticed how glowing my skin was after every use. For this reason I really recommend it for spring, it’s perfect to combat lackluster skin after a long and cold winter. I like to apply it in combination with my mineral powder foundation that shows through enough skin to appreciate the glow. Now, just the weather has to follow!!!
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner in Jet Black
My only make-up purchase for this time was an overdue replacement for my old Maybelline liquid eyeliner. I mourned the loss but really Stila’s liner is solo much more so overall I’m happy with the change. For one, it is black, I mean really BLACK! For two the formula is really waterproof it stays all day and budges only if you use special eyemakeup removers. Perhaps there will be customers who find that a con but I don’t have time to reapply during the day so my make-up has to last at least 12 hours. This one lasts longer! Once I’ve worn it for 16hrs and it was still there the same as I drew it in the morning (still working on my application skills, I’m good at the right eye and horrible at the left :D). For last the applicator is a dream come true. It’s really thin that makes precise application a breeze. The only thing that needs some getting used to is that it can be a little glossy sometimes, just enough that it does not dry completely matte as my old one. On the disadvantages side I have only one grief (more like suspicion) with the product and that is the amount you get and the possibility of it drying out too quick. However if you like to buy your liners fairly frequently for hygiene reasons this won’t be a concern for you. We’ll see how it performs over time…
See you soon!
